Welcome to Inverness Book Festival 2014
Welcome to the 10th Inverness Book Festival, the second in association with Sandstone Press.
We have a great line up this year with our subjects ranging from the Antarctic with Gavin Francis to 20th Century Ireland with Man Booker shortlisted Sebastian Barry. We have Tartan Noir with Louise Welsh and Doug Johnstone and we visit 1970s Chicago and beyond with Bonnie Greer. The timing of the festival lends itself perfectly to delve into the Independence Referendum with Robert Crawford and Iain MacWhirter as well as the centenary of the First World War with Nairn born Patrick Watt. Our agent-in-residence this year is Isobel Dixon of Blake Friedmann. As well as being an agent, Isobel is also an accomplished and much published poet.
For the first time we will be hosting an evening of Gaelic language books, organised by the Gaelic Books Council and two important events for young readers sponsored by Publishing Scotland.
Plus, we have the No 1 international bestselling author Kate Mosse joining us at the Big Book Group event.
I hope you are as excited as I am by the terrific programme of events we have on offer. I look forward to seeing you at Eden Court for another fantastic festival.
